“Help for Political Prisoners” is a project that aims to raise awareness of politically motivated persecution in Russia. We produce videos telling the stories of political prisoners, conduct interviews with human rights defenders on topics such as protection from repression, preventing mobilization for the war in Ukraine and understanding politically motivated persecution. We also cover other important human rights issues relevant to today’s totalitarian reality in Russia. One of the few safe ways for protest-minded Russians to oppose the Putin regime and the war is to support political prisoners. By spreading information about political prisoners and resistance to the war, we show the world that not all Russians support Putin or the war. People in Russia are trying to take action even in a dictatorship, and we are highlighting their efforts. In addition to producing videos, “Help for Political Prisoners” also organizes pickets, protests, rallies and actions in support of political prisoners, as well as letter-writing campaigns to support the prisoners. We will continue our work — producing videos, raising awareness, holding actions and campaigning for justice — until the last political prisoner in Russia is released.
