Statement of the Anti-War Committee of Russia Ahead of the Putin-Trump Summit in Alaska

The Anti-War Committee of Russia considers the swift end of Putin’s aggression and the immediate ceasefire to be the most urgent tasks. At the same time, we know that Vladimir Putin perceives every concession not as a step toward peace, but as a sign of weakness in the opponent and an opportunity to expand his claims.

This meeting is not just another diplomatic ritual but a decisive moment for the whole world. America must not be perceived as weak. Every such signal from the West brings us closer not to peace, but to a global conflict.

We know that, in the strategic perspective, Russia has already lost the war. The annexation of devastated territories, unrecognized by anyone, tens of thousands of casualties — this is not a victory.

Putin wants to continue the war; it helps him maintain power. That is why no economic sanctions alone will stop him. He must understand that continuing the war will bring his defeat closer, not farther.

We are convinced that such negotiations only make sense if Donald Trump is ready to fulfill his pre-election promise: in case the Kremlin refuses to stop the war, to provide Ukraine with all the necessary weapons for its defense.

Otherwise, it will be a signal to the Kremlin and similar regimes around the world of the weakness of the United States and the West in general, and will be a prologue to numerous attempts at a global redistribution of influence, in essence, to a new world war.

Stop the war!
