Statement of the Anti-War Committee of Russia on the Failed Attempt to Undermine the PACE Platform
The Anti-War Committee of Russia expresses its deep regret that Vladimir Kara-Murza’s had left the Committee. We hope that our colleague will find an opportunity to resume our joint work in the future.
In accordance with the Berlin Declaration, we seek to avoid bringing internal conflicts within the democratic and anti-war movement into the public sphere; this would be inappropriate in the face of the criminal war unleashed by our common enemy.
We do not consider it appropriate to publicly discuss a personal conflict that happened at a private event or to use it as an argument in political debate.
We cannot fail to note that, under the pretext of a personal conflict, the Free Russia Foundation is attempting to undermine the project of creating a common platform of Russian democratic forces together with European politicians.
We condemn knowingly false allegations and insinuations, unsupported by any evidence, regarding alleged criminal actions, and we call on our colleagues to exercise restraint. We support the participation in the PACE platform of a broad range of well-known figures from the democratic and anti-war movement on equal terms, as defined by the relevant PACE resolution. We call on our colleagues to act within the framework of the official procedures established by PACE.
The Anti-War Committee of Russia, as an association of free people opposing war and dictatorship, treats all democratic organizations and activists with respect and hopes for productive cooperation.
